Last year I was in Ljubljana for Thanksgiving and the Slovenian bartender sneered that instead of Thanksgiving, Americans should celebrate "Thanks-taking," with regards to American land.
I actually think that's a good idea. Healthy cultures celebrate such matters.
Of all the things that have been exported from America to the rest of the world, I'm honestly shocked that Thanksgiving has not become an international holiday. It's totally awesome, and it's a sort of plug and play prefab holiday: just make the traditional dishes (which rock) and have a big feast. God I love Thanksgiving.
Please whatever you do, don't read a pre-provided political arguments list at the Thanksgiving table. It lets everyone know you are a dumbass because you are the kind of person who is incapable of doing anything more than reading talking points from a list.
