The Croissandwich was Burger King’s response to McDonald’s reimagining a fancy breakfast item, Eggs Benedict, into a mass market breakfast sandwich a la the Egg McMuffin. “What is fancier than a French croissant?” is how BK responded. The master monetizers, Starbucks sells essentially both breakfast items at even higher prices. Total genius!

To be fair to Heir Trudeau, he sent in the thugs to break up the convoy protests the old fashioned way. Never keep your jackboots in the same basket.

Bro, when I read articles from you or other political commentators on the question of our ever eroding freedoms I can only say: You don't even know the half of it! We're starting to talk about shit that is way beyond the imagination of normal boomers sensibilities - companies are coming up with all kinds of AI break-throughs and for all of us who can understand even a percentage of what is being churned out we can already see the writings on the wall. These guys are going to control everything, in the olden days you needed someone to plow the fields or keep the animals, now you're going to have algorithms mercilessly taking away the utility of a large swath of the population, but also their capability to self sustain and fight back, what's worse is we're going to be surveilled by the same algorithms for even the slightest form of descent against the New Order. The guys at the top don't want to just take everything away from us, they now want to remove us in the process.

Well we'll give them some ascent then. (soz for the play on words, I think you meant dissent)

Yes, and we know it and sit awaiting our fate.

So we deserve it.

Everyone who’s going to die at their hands deserves it, we are letting it happen.

It's not that easy to replace manual labour with robots, if that's what you're implying by "algorithms"

I think ESG serves (at least) two purposes.

One, it allows “passive” fund management companies like Blackrock an excuse to interfere in the operations of institutions they own a stake in. They need an extraordinary excuse because they are supposed to be passive - this excuse is ESG. So they can say, “you’re not against Blackrock promoting a healthy environment, sustainable societies and good governance, are you?” And so now they have their excuse to interfere.

The second is that it provides a smokescreen for coordination between policymakers and financiers. The public can see the two groups working together, so when accused of making corrupt bargains, ESG allows one to say “no no no, we’re just working together to save the environment”.

As always, by settling on a consistent narrative, it makes everyone’s activities much easier to coordinate and makes sure everyone gets the wording right when speaking to the public.

Another example of “Mercurialism”. Nothing is ever what it says on the tin…

I realized recently that much of what is happening is that the US is being turned into 1990s Russia. It’s even the same group of people involved. No wonder they are no fan of Mr. Putin.

Dinner clubs are a blast! It’s one thing that I expect will die with the boomers as I don’t see much interest with Gen X or Millennials keeping the traditions up. Petroleum clubs, cattlemen’s clubs, athletic clubs, university clubs… and apparently fat men’s clubs.

Alright, alright, I subscribed. Between your well-articulated and thoroughly detailed articles and your hilariously irreverent Twitter presence, I'm sold.

The ESG thing is comical to me. It's a classic example of Sowell's "The Vision of the Anointed"; that is, some group of elites think they can operate society better for all persons involved if they centralized the authority to themselves. Man's hubris knows no bounds. I'm not sure whether pride is the worst sin or if it's envy, but pride certainly shows how strong its hand is.

Perhaps we can use this to convince people we need to get rid of centralized banking and the Federal Reserve? I don't know if European countries have similar; I'm just an American pleb who primarily knows only his own country. Regardless, ESG would likely not have gotten off the ground without the Federal Reserve and the legacy of FDR. I will continue to maintain the Lockean stance that government is the greatest threat to individualism and liberal democracy. Big Business can only amass centralizing authority through government intervention, as far as I can tell. Public-Private Partnership—or PPP—is the Mark of the Beast, and we should take immediate action the moment we see it forming.

___

I need to actually read Popper's "Open Society". I have it sitting on my coffee table and have been putting it off. I imagine a necessary component behind the Paradox of Tolerance is that people often believe freedom means lack of any restraint. It's such a juvenile belief, and I see it commonly here in Seattle and other "progressive" cities. Freedom is individual sovereignty, and that only succeeds within a framework of constraint. Lack of restraint is anarchy, and while I tend to side with the Austrians in economics, like Mises and Hayek, I certainly do not share their more modern belief that zero government is the way to operate society (see: Per Bylund as an example).

That's all I've got for now. Thank you for the content you produce; I genuinely enjoy it.

This is the propaganda the Republican party wants you to believe but it doesn’t align with the fact that for much of the last four decades the Republican party has controlled our politics. Since 1995 they have controlled the House in 10 of the last 14 congresses. Since 1980 they have controlled the Presidency for 24 years vs. 17 for the Democrats. It is predicted by most people that next year they will regain control of both houses of congress to go along with their control of the Supreme court.

All of this is a direct result of the culture wars which began with political correctness. Although the Left controls the cultural and academic institutions they work in the rest of the country has always been turned off by PC cultural and identity politics and this has kept the Republican Party in power despite unpopular policies. Big banks and large corporations act woke because it is a win-win proposition, being woke placates their educated liberal employees and creates votes for Republicans who institute the policies they really want. Except in their cultural playpens the Left is powerless. A Left without workers is just a bunch of rich liberals virtue signaling.

If you are a Republican who believes in low taxes and little government regulation you should be thankful for Political Correctness, if you are a New Deal liberal who thinks there is a role for government in protecting the powerless from the powerful, not so much.

W/Rgd to freedom, democracy, rights, ESG, etc;

My fellow Americans and neighbor Canadians;

Without rancor or at this point any more sadness you are fucking sheep and I spit on you. You deserve all the abuse you take, and worse you’re taking it from faggot cowards (there are brave fags). You’re taking it from psychotic freaks - also cowards. You’re taking it from Justin Trudeau Castrolito.

And its for the money that you endure all this, selling out is our genius.

This nation has already perished from the earth.

* in fairness we never quite monetized everything until really starting in the 90s when the Special people- yes you- really started hitting their stride.

How long do you believe you'll be able to beat that dead NATO horse? Putin’s seizure of Crimea and Donbass made it impossible for Ukraine to join NATO long before this invasion, because that would have required NATO to basically prepare for war and/or escalation with Russia or otherwise swallow the conflict. So this invasion wasn’t sparked by fear of NATO.

Your hash of a great powers analysis has the feel of a teenage love affair with a couple of Mearsheimer clips on YouTube.

(I can imagine the NATO paranoia as real too actually but that would require a Putin who REALLY doesn't have all his Moomins in the Valley.)

Re: ESG you only have to listen to the CEO of ADNOC talk about the company’s move toward a “carbon neutral future” while simultaneously pumping a zillion barrels of petroleum a day @ $120 a barrel to know how pervasive it is, brought to you by McKinsey and a thousand other American corporate consultants currently cashing in the GCC by selling ESG scripts to the governments and corporations.

Niccolo Soldo; I’m t-banned so if I can comment here-

I understand your argument that if America’s Elites are united the country is effectively United and the Empire expands, the Proles don’t matter (they chose to be meek so f- em). My own comments below show my own disgust at how cowardly my people are, all your points are valid. As are your invocations of “If” and “someday.” These can’t be argued with as they are true, you are actually more charitable than me (read down) and the contempt for conservatives is shared.

Actually I’m worse towards them, I think they exist not only to mislead and defang us but as Judas goats to betray us all.

Having agreed I won’t disagree- I’ll caution.

The US Empire is far more secure abroad than at home.

Just before Ukrainian war the Russians publicly showed exasperation that this drama was to distract from domestic issues- this is true. Far deeper you haven’t I think met personally our elites-

They are literally cringing cowards about their own soldiers and Federal agents.

They can’t even hide it. Glenn Greenwald could beat the shit out of several at them at once, (I’m not a GG fan).

Recall the Democratic Party doesn’t have foreign enemies, just foreigners who remind them of their domestic enemies. Here is the point- fear of the domestic causes them to seek diversionary quarrels abroad- all well and good if its all proxy or CIA.

But at home DOD turned them down on January 6th. DOD blocked the DC National Guard’s response (fully kitted DC ARNG in Riot Gear were told to stand fast, which you know stepped on DC ARNG Chain of Command, which is the Mayor-or maybe she choked?)

They can’t forget all that. Their own Capitol Police let the protesters in (only God knows if that was staged or sympathy, or just wanting to not be torn to pieces by a mob they believe were armed - or could be very quickly).

They are indeed for now triumphant abroad- but at home justly nervous.

As for Russia this is gambling not calculation. No reason for Putin to play the fool and let this become Afghanistan.

The conflict for Russia is existential they’ll win.

The USG barely knows what they have gotten into. You do know its truth most of them have never been in a fight in school? Never been punched.

Meanwhile they just provoked China with the proposed semiconductor alliance.

Trying to start wars with 2 nuclear superpowers at once when you can’t trust your own army, police or people might not be rational.

So you see these may be crazy and terrified elites and this really is Jonestown.

So put to the test what does the military do?

What did they do last time?

NOTHING.

Nothing may be the answer at the next real test at home or abroad.

Frankly its like Mussolini in 43, any real push people walk away. People want to live.

No politics, just survival.

But at the moment your points are correct.

At the moment.

But a moment ago (January 2021) I’m correct.

We live it seems moment to moment, but I wouldn’t want to be the elites if there’s a setback in Europe or at home.

A Knife’s edge is not a secure perch.
