Funny how many focus on the complicated issues around voting integrity but rarely accept the fact that electronic voting machines are closed source and easily modified by the companies that make them. Heck, you don't even need hacking, as the company can do it themselves easily.

When I hear these stories that fail to address that electronic elephant in the room, it makes me think that they're doing this on purpose to create more fear porn.

Another irony is that you cannot complain. If you do complain the manufacturer of the voting machines will sue you for defamation.

Ahh, well how can they prove that they aren't corrupt?

If I say that Microsoft Windows or Apple mac osx can spy on me or mess with my data, they cannot sue me.

So where did you hear about this?

You've provided lots of information on attempts to get the election to move one way or another but the monster is the simple and legal (per the Supreme Court) pouring of money into campaign advertising. Any American simply sitting in his/her living room before the flat screen is assaulted by the best productions that money can buy to influence voting. No limits on spending and money is speech. These two go far beyond anything mentioned and have corrupted our political system so clearly that anyone can see it pour forth on the big screen.

And I noted the mention of the attempt to paint Trump as a Russian agent. There have been no suggestions to investigate AIPAC meddling in US elections even as it boasts of doing so.

The two paragraphs above are related producing corruption by wealth and almost all of Congress declaring devotion to Israel, nobody saying anything about liberty and justice for all. Incredibly, people say democracy is in danger from Trump. Our democracy is already gone, the 1%, a good part being Zionist, rules. Voting is mere procedure. Protest on campus against Israel has been silenced by big donor Zionist pressure. The real power in elections is counted in dollars and in this it matters not whether Trump or Harris wins. Anti-Zionist American Jew Jill Stein, along with Cornel West the only true Americans contesting the presidency, will get at best 5% (Stein and West combined) of the vote of people who are convinced that voting on Nov 5 is going to make a difference.

AIPAC is American so they have the right to influence the election. Of course AIPAC is almost a mouth piece for Israel but as long as their funding comes from Americans that is not a problem. An additional problem is that there are other Jewish organizations that work similarly.

It will take a change of public opinion and a strong president to change that. As both Trump and Harris have Jews in the family that is unlikely to happen soon.

2016, everyone was caught by surprise.

2020, Trump and co. were naive and presupposed the neutrality/integrity of the election process. The RNC told Trump off when he asked for help.

2024: His team, the RNC, and many R's all over the country have wised up, prepared, made changes to processes, procedures and laws. The RNC over the last few weeks gets rulings from SCOTUS within 36 hours of filing that go into immediate effect.

LMAO at using Kursk as a bargaining chip. It's being set up as a live-action DPRK training ground but it might be rolled up by the time they start fighting there.

Besides the election, the most bonkers story in the USA right now is Warner Brothers completely defecating on Clint Eastwood after having a 50-year relationship with him. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2024/nov/01/juror-2-the-curious-case-of-the-missing-clint-eastwood-film

Great stuff, Niccolo, thanks. As for US elections, I am aware of how opaque and corrupt they have become so I fully expect Donald Trump to win the majority of the votes cast and Kamala Harris, after some acrimonious rounds of lawfare, to be declared the winner.

Another thought I just want to express here. I read a couple of months ago that the interest on America's debt now exceed $1 trillion per annum. That is, I believe, more than their entire defence budget. I am not suggesting an American collapse or even a default but I do wonder how long they can go on servicing this mammoth debt burden?

I attribute the BRICS’ failure to advance plans for an alternative to the US dollar to their putting a higher priority on diversifying their foreign exchange reserves out of dollars and into gold. Participation in Bretton Woods II requires holding US dollar reserves equal to FDI, which defines the limit of reserve diversification (gold buying).

The RUSI piece is an example of pure narrative unmoored from reality, just dubious claims that some random signs of commitment would have won the war for Ukraine. But nothing would have stopped NATO from inviting Ukraine to join or directly joining the war anytime in the last three years.

I think the most likely outcome is that, assuming Trump wins, he negotiates the best deal possible for the Ukraine and Europe quietly crawls back to Russia over the next few years begging for energy,

tourism and export markets. They can’t afford not to.

Then we will hear forever that Trump was compromised and sold the Ukraine out. Trump will serve quite well as a scapegoat for the loss.

I read Vance's book Hillbilly elegy when it was first published in 2016 as it got some positive reviews. I also read Ramaswamy's book of 2020 since he spoke senseically when I saw him interviewed back then. Also on my reading in 2020/1 was Kennedy's book on the long history of malfeasance of federal agencies responsible for quality of America's health programs and vaccines, The Real Anthony Fauci.

It is hard not to be cynical today and view these noteworthy books with jaded eyes.

The idea that they would participate in politics at the front stage in later years must have been in consideration with the publication and promotion of the books. Knowing book writing often precedes campaigns is not new, buy the cynicism and planning that must be involved years ahead in this era, knowing with a crystal ball the course that things would take, is breathtaking.

I will not be voting this year, though I became a citizen over 30 years ago in order to do so enthusiastically.
