I highly recommend András Schiffer's "Action for Democracy Export" article about foreign interference in the Hungarian elections.

He's a former Green/Liberal politician, and today he's part of the independent opposition.

He authorized me to translate his article to English, which blew up the Hungarian internet and later the public consciousness:

https://www.magyar.blog/i/74902116/andras-schiffer-action-for-democracy-export

It's very Think Thank / NGO heavy, tried to highlight it for readability.

I have to add: since the publishing of his original article, no claims in his research have been challenged by the opposition.

The NGO and media fifth columnists overseas are an extension of the same systemic mechanism across the West through which post-liberal regimes control their own populations.

The mobilisation of the media and NGOs against Trump and the voters who supported him was a form of low intensity civil conflict. The conflict has become normalised as a corollary of shock economics or governance by crisis. But the populists of the imperial core are now being subject to the same style of organised political harassment and molestation as the unruly or inconvenient governments in the periphery of the GAE.

Perhaps the only way to counter this is by targeting the players: identifying the NGOs and regime media for what they are, disrupting the narrative by refusing to take them at face value and stop according them any legitimacy or respect. Ultimately, populist forces could mobilise to demand legislation making those who finance NGOs liable for harms done by their agents.

Pretend that Russians were buying up Georgian media.

We'd be hearing about the pernicious influence of foreign ownership of Muh Precious Media.

EDIT: I understand that the Georgian media law that is the subject of such handwringing commentary is basically a port of a United States law.

Putting a tracking device on this horrible woman would help prevent a lot of problems. At least, we’d know what countries are going to have a problem next.

when are you guys going to syndicate and share revenues, instead of fighting each other for single author subscriptions and get your customer exploited by substack business model?

Just goes to show elections have consequences. If Ron Paul had been president in ‘14 there would have been no Nuland-Pyatt coup. Unfortunately non-interventionists seem to dislike each other more than they dislike foreign interventions as seen by the latest antiwar protest in DC (ironically Ron Paul was there!)

There's no reason to keep it a secret! The US should be PROUD of sponsoring messages and narratives in Georgia! America's the best country in world! Everyone loves America! Freedom, democracy, prosperity!

This make sense once you define democracy as being an US vassal.

I consider Samantha Power to be one of my most trusted sources of information—I just listen to what she says and know that the truth is the exact opposite.

I can believe that 2014 era unrest in Kiev had legitimate origins, given how polarized the country was and how much Yanukovych’s policies frustrated the ethnic Ukrainians who wanted more EU integration.

But these Georgia protests…there’s just no way ordinary people are going to organically riot and protest over an issue like this, especially one that is so reasonable on its face. Revolutionary sentiment can stir up quickly for small motivations when people’s pocketbooks are involved (ie, Chile in 2019). But “foreign funding of media now requires disclosure” being enough to spark this? I don’t buy it. This reeks of astroturf.

Good news, everyone! Washington is cutting its losses in Ukraine:

Ukrainian partisans, good gosh! Rattling indeed! Who in Kyiv knew? Did they provide material support? Such reckless destruction is unbefitting of a potential member of the human rights based democratic international community. Let the defenestration of Mr. Zelensky commence forthwith!
