Russian Intel caught flatfooted.

Again.

Oops? Wait a second... I thought Russia was the best at it.

Oh wait, they can't somehow "win" in Ukraine either.

Remember big brother said we were always at war with EastAsia...

In Russia big brother says we were always at war with Oceania.

Russian intelligence has a poor track record of preventing terrorist attacks. Or dealing with hostage situations.

Apparently they reached the city center, so it looks really bad. I don't think they can hold onto it, but it's still alarming how ineffective the SAA is.

I bet there will be some conspiracy theories going around. Why now? How? Are the syrian allies willing to get back there? Idlib shouldn't have been left alone.

Very, very good chance that we're gonna see a slaughter of innocent civilians tonight in Aleppo.

Maybe trying to force the hand of the Russians and Iranians?

To be fair, by this point, it will be really hard to force the Russians to negotiate. Ukraine is breaking, they would be stupid to give up their momentum just now. I can easily see, the US/Ukraine trying everything to save what can be saved(because they won't recover any territories already lost).

For sure that they want to try and stretch Russia further. Also, it's a lame duck administration in DC, so this will be waiting for Trump when he re-enters office.

Yes it’s a parting shot and hope will distract Trump of gutting the Deep State.

So the Israelis secured the western flank and, then, just one day later, for no reason at all......

This is opening another front against Russia, is it not?

Looks like. A big "thank you" to Hamas for this fuck up.

I think you're misplacing the blame. It came right after Turkey reported a renewal of its F-35 order and the US admitted that their purchase of Russian S-400 systems might be overlooked in the end.

It’s Erdogan going with the highest bidder again.

Besides, these islamists aren't even led by Al-Quaeda, they're openly on Turkish payroll and supply list.

You have to consider this as another open front by the U.S. against Russia.

I don't think so, at least not under Trump it will be. Netanyahu's son recently openly producing a map of Kurdistan which extended over half of Turkey, claiming Kurds to be a natural ally of Israel.

Anything involving Issis is nothing more than a false flag operation under Mossad/CIA control. These people care not who gets killed or maimed in pursuit of their insane goals. Believe NOTHING you are fed through corporate media organs.

Of course. What does anyone propose to do about it?

Pretty much the same as Mark Twain's quip about weather.

The Chechen and Dagestani forces are Turkic; Pan-Turkism has been a primary outreach of foreign ministry under Erdogan for many years, in an attempt to declare himself a Caliphate. This happens now after Netanyahu recently referred to the Kurds as a natural ally of Israel. Serious stuff. Netanyahu's son produced a map showing Kurdistan extending over half of Turkey.

This comes even as over the past several years Turkey has produced political maps showing Greek islands as their territory. There is ongoing for years a dispute of newly developed gas fields under the Mediterranean in joint project of Israel/Cyprus/Greece. In Lebanon Hezbollah leader pushed to claim jurisdiction too and we see what has happened recently.

Kurdistan claiming half of Turkey? What about the historical Armenian kingdom areas? Urartu?

Expand full comment

That is a good point, esp given what has happened in Nagorno-Karabakh and the historical Armenian community of Aleppo. But this map was produced by Netanyahu's son. I will see if I can find a link

This is from March. Saw a more recent article on this at an Azerbaijian website called, unsurprisingly, "Turan" (the pan-Turkic movement is called Pan-Turanism) but the discussion was not in English.

Expand full comment

The Chechen are not Turkic and Dagestan is populated by a lot of different ethnic groups - the big majority of who are not Turkic. The connecting link is pan-Islamism.

Expand full comment

The Pan-Turanism or Pan-Turkic movement is basically Islamist by definition because as encouraged by Erdogan it's in support of a Caliphate and neoOttoman

What timing! Will these righteous jihadis help their brothers in Palestine? Of course not.

Erdogan has now made Turkey home of Hamas leadership

Whether or not Hamas has actually helped Palestinians is IMO an open question

Two greatest allies opening a third front? To give DJT a huge mess to clean up right after his inauguration? Always wished I learned to play chess.

Keep up the excellent work on the blog Mr. Soldo. Ya ought to also keep an eye on pre election skullduggery in Canuckistan. It's a kakistocracy, I say.

Shaking Assad’s cage seems like something the Biden administration would like to do but as it hasn’t had much of a speaking role there since October 7, 2023, I suppose they’re just along for the ride on this too.

Gee, I wonder who is paying the salaries of Chechen and Dagestani fighters in Syria? Because, they are rather far from home.

Could it be, USA?

Expand full comment

Far from home? The Caucasus is adjacent to the Fertile Crecsent and Syria has received wave after wave of Caucasian migrans, refugees and adventurers over millennia. The Armenian community in Syria being the most prominent.

Expand full comment

Probably just Turkey. What I am confused is how they are financing their own massive military and the tens of thousands of proxies they have in Syria, Africa, Central Asia etc. Just printing money? Their economy is okayish(their inflation is high but they are not a shithole, just look at Google Street View of a avereage Turkish town, its no different from Southern Europe). But their birth rates are getting more and more abysmal each year so I think they only have 2 decades or so to play Neo-Ottomans.
