Now that the dust has settled…..
Russia 3 - Donbass, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson
Anglo-America - Kiev/North, Kharkov
This is the score on the military playing field. The retreat of Russian forces from Kharkov region is unlike that of Kiev and the north earlier in the war in that they were forced out of part of it through a UAF offensive. Either way, both count as victories for the Anglo-American proxies, even if there never was a battle for Kiev/Sumy/Chernigov/etc.
Two other facets of this war are being fought:
Economic - Russia faring better than expected, Europe is on edge, USA is doing fine (as expected), Ukraine is a welfare case
Geo-strategic - the big picture involving just how far NATO gets to expand eastwards (remains to be seen)
What Has Been Learned?
UAF can engage in offensive activity at a relatively large-scale, despite the claims of pro-RUS bloggers
Girkin vindicated regarding his criticism of lack of Russian boots on the ground
much of the pro-RUS/anti-imperialist alternative media set are just as clueless as mainstream media in the West
Effect of UAF Victory in Kharkov
renewed western support for Kiev because “they can win this thing”
prolonged war, satisfying US desire to do as much damage to RUS as possible
demoralization of Russians in UKR, both military and civilian
morale boost for Ukrainians
strategic shift in Russian planning/objectives
Immediate Actions to Anticipate
renewed UAF moves on Kherson
UAF drive towards Melitopol or Mariupol
Overall Assessment
A huge shot in the arm for both Kiev and its western backers, both of whom are convinced that they can win this war now. Russia to re-calibrate in response to now-evidenced ability of UAF offensive capabilities that can now target land bridge to Crimea.
