I am currently working away on three new interviews, the book club, and another essay or two.
For those of you who can bear to listen to my voice, I recently went to London, UK to record an episode of Louise Perry’s Maiden Mother Matriarch podcast. The subject was the early days of HIV in San Francisco (and by extension, elsewhere in the USA), which was the subject of a series that I published here over a year ago, and which continues to generate a lot of interest. You can listen to the free preview here:
I am also planning more media work, and have linked up with two individuals with a wealth of experience in that field to collaborate with on this. One of them is coming to visit me here in Split, Croatia in a little over two weeks to conduct a working session regarding this.
For those of you who plan on coming to Split or want to come here, please let me know and I will happily show you around. I have already had six subscribers (and their friends and/or families) come visit here this summer.
My parents are here for another month, so I am doing my filial duty and driving them around whenever they feel the need to go visit someone or head out to the countryside where we are from. The photo above is of my mother pretending to ride my first cousin’s motorbike. The mountain range in the background (the Dinaric Alps) of the photograph forms the border between Croatian Dalmatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina. The pic was taken in my mother’s village this past Sunday.
Questions for Readers
What are you doing this summer?
What would you like to see more of on this Substack?
As always, I really appreciate your support of my writing and will naturally strive to produce more for your reading pleasure.

I crave more interviews, always more interviews. It would also be cool if you'd be able to appear on more podcasts.
This summer, I've taken 8 weeks off - longest vacation I've ever had - and I've been spending most of this time with various programming tutorials.
I'm in my late 30s now and I had forgotten what it feels like to learn something entirely new, where none of the intuitions you've developed in your life and career so far are going to help you much; it's frustrating and exhilarating and I feel deeply retarded most of the time. I think it's good for the soul.
1. Tooling around Mexico
2. More minute-by-minute coverage of the 2027 French Election. I hear something will happen that day. I would also enjoy a dialogue between you and a jihadi intellectual wherein you compete to see who can make the best case for America as The Great Satan.
